Memorials

In these pages, there is some background information on memorials in general, important memorials outside of New Brunswick, as well as some archival photographs of the memorials on this website.

Forms of Memorials

There are many different forms of memorials, each with their own history and meaning. The form of the memorial can be indicitiave of the municipality and of the region's experience of war.

Other Memorials

Memorialization is not just a theme in Canada, but also around the world. There are some very interesting and moving monuments overseas which are important to our understanding of memorialization, public memory, and conflict. These memorials are overwhelmingly in memory of the Great War.

Archival Photographs

Purely for interet's sake, I have added a few archival photos to the website. This enables the researcher to see what these memorials looked like at the time they were erected. It can be interesting to see wear-and-tear, damage, change in backgrounds, etc.
